International Tree Foundation (ITF) was founded in Kenya, in 1922. It is made up of tree planters, farmers, foresters, entrepreneurs, teachers, members, and supporters. Today, they work in nine African countries, across the UK and Ireland. ITF is dedicated to “planting the right species, in the right place, for the right reasons” and building successful relationships between trees and people. They are a community-led organization that works with the people whose livelihoods depend upon local forests to determine which trees to plant, where, and why so that they can develop prosperous, sustainable livelihoods that support forests for generations.
